Topsail Island is 26 miles of unspoiled sandy beaches that boast 52 miles of shoreline along the Atlantic Ocean and Intra Coastal Waterway. Topsail Island is located 30 miles from Wilmington, NC and 30 miles from Jacksonville, NC.
Topsail Island is comprised of three towns. Surf City (centrally located), North Topsail Beach (North end), and Topsail Beach (South End). While each town has its own personality and feel, each share in the overall family oriented and quaint coastal community of Topsail Island.
Topsail has much history ranging back to the day of pirates, when their "Top Sails" could be seen by passing ships hiding behind the island waiting on their next bounty. Legends even hint that Blackbeard's treasure could be buried somewhere on the island today.
In the late 1940's, Topsail Island was the home to Operation Bumblebee, the United States Government's experimental rocket program that laid seed to NASA and modern jet technology. Relics of this age are still present with observation towers along the island & large warehouse structures that have been modernized.
Topsail is also known for its beautiful clean beaches and waters, almost tropical in appearence on some days. Fishing is a favorite past time of locals and visitors whether surf or pier fishing or venturing out offshore for game fish.
The island's real estate offerings range from oceanfront homes and condos to deepwater sound front properties, all at a value when compared to other coastal locales around the country.
